Privacy notice

This notice explains what personal information Sekaichi Inc. collects through this website, why, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to satisfy Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI); where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies to you, the rights described below are additional to those.

What we collect

  • Enquiry details you submit through the contact form: name, company, work email, website, stage, and the message itself.
  • Technical data generated by visiting the site: IP address, user agent, referring page and requested URLs, collected by our hosting provider as part of serving the request.
  • Usage data collected by Google Analytics: pages viewed, approximate location derived from a truncated IP address, and the site or search that referred you. This tells us which articles are worth writing more of. It is set to anonymise IP addresses and is not linked to advertising audiences.

We do not run advertising trackers, and we do not sell or share personal information for advertising purposes. If you prefer not to be measured at all, Google publishes an opt-out browser add-on, and any standard tracker-blocking extension will also stop it.

Why we use it

  • To respond to your enquiry and, if it proceeds, to scope and deliver services.
  • To operate and secure the website, including abuse and spam prevention.
  • To meet accounting, tax and legal record-keeping obligations in Japan.

Who processes it

We use third-party processors to deliver the site, measure usage and handle email. These currently include our hosting and content delivery provider, Google Analytics, and our transactional email provider. They act on our instructions and are bound by their own data-processing terms.

International transfer

Our infrastructure is deliberately distributed so that visitors outside Japan get fast access. This means personal information may be processed on servers located outside Japan, including in the United States and the European Union. Where required, transfers rely on the processor’s standard contractual clauses or an equivalent mechanism.

Retention

Enquiries that do not proceed are retained for up to 24 months and then deleted. Records relating to engagements are retained for the period required by Japanese tax and corporate law.

Your rights

You may ask us to disclose, correct, suspend the use of, or delete personal information we hold about you, and to stop contacting you. Write to ryoya@sekaichi.org and we will respond within a reasonable period. If you are in the EU or UK you also have the right to object to processing, to request portability, and to complain to your supervisory authority.
